The new application of the Ministry of Digitization mObywatel 2.0 had its premiere at midnight from Thursday to Friday. In social media, users have been complaining since the morning that the mObywatel application is not working. Shortly after 9 am, the Central Information Technology Center reported that technicians are working on solving the problems, but so far (3:45 pm) the application still does not work in our case. The Minister of Digital Affairs also decided to refer to the matter. Janusz Cieszyński in an interview with the Niebezpiecznik.pl portal admitted that on Friday the app was updated to the new version in just five hours (from 7 am to 12 noon) by as many as 100,000. Poles. A large part of users certainly tried to run it right away, which could overload the servers.
“The minister also referred to the problems with the stability of the application. He informed that they result from the specificity of the application – the process of its installation requires (temporarily) more resources than its subsequent typical use. This includes the need to use HSMs to support cryptography, for example, when a certificate is generated for a new user. To sum up, when everyone has installed the application, the stability of its operation should normalize” – he explains.
mCitizen 2.0. Janusz Cieszyński explains that a phased implementation was not possible
The unsuccessful launch of mObywatel 2.0 is widely commented on Twitter. “And that’s why the noisy announcement of the premiere and the loud enter at midnight sometimes ends up being a bit embarrassing. Nothing really will happen if the celebrated event is an 80% -> 100% rollout, after a week of peaceful phased implementation” – wrote one of the users of the platform . Janusz Cieszyński replied to the entry. “Without exaggeration, we released tweets and a screen of people sitting on Teams. No one assigns orders to anyone. When implemented on the basis of the act, unfortunately, the gradual rollout recommended by the team is not possible” – wrote the minister.
For now, it is not known when the application will be available to everyone. Currently, some users are already using the app without problems, while others cannot even log in to it.
