Reuters: Huawei will release the first 5G smartphone at the end of 2023
Chinese corporation Huawei may enter the 5G smartphone market at the end of 2023. The timing of the release of the first such gadget of the company reveals Reuters.
Sources told the agency that the company continued to develop smartphones with support for fifth-generation communications and found a way to present its product in this market segment. According to three research firms, Huawei will use its own developments to release a processor with 5G support.
Insiders noted that Huawei’s partner will be Semiconductor Manufacturing International (SMIC). The appearance of the corporation’s devices on the 5G market was called by Reuters interlocutors a “victory” for Huawei, which, according to its leaders, has been in “survival mode” for a long time.
The agency specialists explained that after Huawei was included in the US sanctions list in May 2019, the company failed in the smartphone market. Restrictions did not allow the corporation to cooperate with manufacturers of components for gadgets. “Huawei fell out of most global rankings last year as sales bottomed out,” the authors stressed.

According to a specialist from one of the research firms, Huawei can enter the smartphone market with 5G, but at the first stage the company will not be able to produce a large number of processors. An expert interviewed by Reuters noted that the corporation can provide from 2 to 4 million units of smartphones with 5G support.
In June, Financial Times sources said that the Chinese company Huawei could be banned from developing 5G networks in Europe. According to insiders, European officials began to discuss this issue.
