According to an analysis by Teojama Comercial, July 2022 was the month with the highest number of recorded accidents (2,013 in total), this figure was 11.15% higher than the monthly average of accidents that occurred in that year, which was 1,811.

“That’s why it’s important to a 360 inspection of the vehicle before you travelbecause it not only guarantees that it is in optimal condition, but also prevents it from getting stuck somewhere and causing an accident due to foreseeable mechanical failures,” explains Bladimir Vásquez of Teojama Comercial.

1. Check the condition of the tires: This step includes assessment of the pressure and verification that there are no cuts or breaks and that there are no embedded foreign objects; and finally that they have the necessary carving. According to the Integral Organic Penal Code (COIP) in art. 383: “The person driving a vehicle whose tires are slippery or in poor condition shall be punished with imprisonment from 5 to 15 days and a reduction of 5 points on the driver’s license.” In the case of public transport, the fine is double.

7. Prepare an emergency kit: The main security elements to be considered include: triangles, emergency strap in good condition, jack, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, flashlight, keys.
