“Russian ideology was imposed on the Ukrainian people in almost all spheres of life for a long time, including with regard to the use of the Julian calendar and the celebration of Christmas on January 7,” the president explained in the legal document.

His goal, Zelensky explains, is renounce the Russian legacy of imposing Christmas on January 7 and set the date of the celebration to December 25.
It is not the only date the president of Ukraine wants to change. He Ukrainian State Day could go from July 28 to July 15, and the Day of the defenders and female defenders of Ukraine it would go from October 14th to October 1st.
According to the official website of the Parliament of Ukraine, the bill was declared urgent by the president, received by the Verkhovna Rada and referred to committee for consideration.
