Losing luggage at the airport is bad, but losing a leg is worse… And that’s exactly what happened to a woman in Thailand.
The painful and tragic incident occurred Thursday morning at the Don Mueang International Airport, Bangkokwhere a woman lost part of her leg after getting stuck in a moving walkway.
The victim, a 57-year-old Thai woman, reportedly sustained the injury while tripping while trying to catch a 9:45 am flight. His foot got caught in the moving walkway of Terminal 2; Shocked onlookers rushed to help her, but her leg was shattered.
The woman’s foot was caught under the belt at the end of the catwalk and a medical team had to amputate her leg above the knee to get it out.. Associated Press reported that the woman is trying to have her leg reattached by specialists, so she has been taken to two different hospitals for treatment.
According to the Bangkok Post newspaper, the moving walk was installed in 1996 by the Japanese company Hitachi and was regularly maintained by the Thai subsidiary Hitachi Siam.
That’s what airport officials say they pay the woman’s medical bills and maybe she gets more money too.
