The bowl from which the cat eats should be wide and flat, say veterinarians. There is a biological justification for this, writes the portal www.gorodche.ru.

In animals, there are sensitive “whiskers” on the muzzle – vibrissae, which belong to the sense organs and are necessary for touch. If a cat eats from a bowl that is too high or not wide enough and constantly touches its edges with vibrissae, sooner or later this leads to irritation of the receptors and, as experts say, the pet may develop “whisker fatigue syndrome”.

If your pet is reluctant to eat or tries to pull food out of the bowl onto the floor and eat from there, then he does not like the bowl – and it is worth replacing it with a flatter and wider one.

Interestingly, in the case of water, the opposite is true: many pets do not drink from their drinkers, but prefer tall and narrow containers, such as the owner’s cups and glasses. This is due to the fact that in such containers the surface of the water collects less dust than in flat plates. Therefore, a drinking bowl for a cat can be narrow, but it is worth making sure that the water in it is always fresh and pouring it to the brim: then the cat will not have to stick its muzzle deep into it and the mustache will not suffer.
