The largest cruise ship in the world completed construction in Finland and was tested at sea before delivery in October. Named Icon of the Seas by Royal Caribbean International, the sea transport is 365 meters long and will weigh approximately 250,800 tons.

“During her first series of sea trials, the Icon of the Seas has traveled hundreds of miles, in which the main engines, hull, braking systems, steering, noise and vibration levels were checked,” said a press release. The ship’s maiden voyage will take place in January 2024 and will then accommodate 5,610 passengers and 2,350 crew members.

The cruise has several water activities on board 19 floors where there will be more than 40 bars, restaurants and nightclubs. I would have too six slides, seven pools and nine hot tubs. Each of the slides has a drop of 14 meters and will have an obstacle course that takes up one side of the ship, almost 47 meters above the water level.

At over 250,800 gross tons, construction of this first unit of Royal Caribbean’s Icon class began in June 2022 and was launched as early as December. The ship will be equipped with innovations such as “virtual balconies” that somehow turn the indoor cabins into outdoor cabins. This by means of a window in which images of the ocean, captured in real time by the ship’s cameras, are projected.

Royal Caribbean International presents Icon of the Seas as the pinnacle of cruise line evolution, featuring the most advanced technology and benefiting from the company’s 50 years of experience.

The visitors’ stay will be seven nights for the Eastern and Western Caribbean. During this time, they visit Royal Caribbean’s private island destination of Cozumel (Mexico), Philipsburg (San Martín), and Roatán (Honduras). Quotas for his January trip are almost exhausted and the cheapest value is around $2,200 per person.
