Furby is a nice plush and interactive creature, which is well remembered by all people whose childhood falls on the end of the nineties and the beginning of the two thousandth. The name Furby comes from the English language and is an abbreviation of words which simply means a ball of fur.
The toy, whose producer is Hasbro, hit the stores in 1998, and in just a dozen or so months from the premiere, almost 16 million copies of Furby were sold. And it was just the beginning, because after three years, more than 40 million furry creatures have already reached children around the world.

Hasbro has just announced that on the occasion of the 25th “birthday” of Furby, the toy will go on sale again. “Following its wild launch in 1998, Furby took the world by storm, spawning into every corner of culture, from music to television and film,” said Kristin McKay, vice president of fashion and preschool toys at Hasbro.
For the 25th anniversary of the brand, we wanted to ignite the same emotions in the next generation, harnessing the power of Furby nostalgia, while giving the Alpha Generation everything they want.

In many ways, the new Furby resembles the original. It’s still the same colorful, lovable ball of fur with big eyes and a yellow beak, which is supposed to respond to hugs and strokes and other gestures, and talk in furbian language.
Among the new features of Furby, Hasbro enumerates, among others: five voice-activated modes (“Dance Party”, “Copy Cat”, “Tell My Fortune”, “Let’s Chill” and “Lightshow”), 600 answers to discover and 10 songs that the furry creature can sing.
Furby also responds to cuddling, patting, tickling, shaking and feeding. Kids can look after Furby by feeding him, combing his fur and dressing him

And the most important thing: new Furby will get an on/off button. At this point, it is worth recalling that the premiere version of the toy did not have such a button, and the only way to turn it off was to pull out the battery (for which a screwdriver was needed). The inability to turn off the toy was problematic – Furby happened to wake up in the middle of the night and surprise the household with his shouts.
