They celebrated their wedding in March 2023 and less than 15 days ago, they finally decided to travel to enjoy their honeymoon. They planned and dreamed of everything they would do and enjoy on the beaches of Hawaii.

They lived in San Jose, California; and they loved the beach. They had said “Yes, I accept” in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, the New York Post noted.

On June 1, in the paradise environment of Hawaii, the Phan couple, adventurers and lovers, wanted to go diving and plunged into the water. Nothing showed signs of abnormality.

What happened to the newlyweds on their honeymoon in Hawaii

Steven Phan, 49, and his wife, Brittany Myers Phan, were diving together, but something happened to the man: he was knocked unconscious.

Alarmed, Brittany asked for help and, according to Univisión, several people helped her husband.

They got Steven off the beach and took him to shore, where they resuscitated him and called 911.

The KTVU outlet reported in Honolulu that “Medics responded to an 911 call at 10:27 a.m. and found Steven in critical condition at Electric Beach in Nānākuli.”

The newlywed was rushed to a hospital, where Steven Phan died despite the best efforts of the doctors.

The nightmare his wife had to face reached a new peak of despair when he realized another problem.

Brittany was robbed. Yes, her backpack (purse) is gone. They left her without “her driver’s license, the keys to the rental car and without the vehicle they rented”.

The perpetrator took the opportunity to take the woman’s belongings as she watched them resuscitate her husband

Devastated family and friends

This painful story became known when family members posted it on a GoFundMe page, describing themselves as devastated.

According to Univisión, Steven worked at Apple, in Cupertino, and in the photos from his wedding day, on March 20, he and Brittany looked really jovial and fun.

All donations will go directly to Brittany Myers Phan to help cover Steven’s funeral and memorial costs.

GoFundMe

According to the information chain, the woman was still stranded in Hawaii last Friday, June 9, where she was processing her documents.

Those close to the couple said on the GoFundMe: “We are heartbroken at the loss of a wonderful man. Steven always found a way to be part of everyone’s lives no matter the distance. He was a true friend and a wonderful husband, he will be missed by all.”
