Insider: almost all components for Apple MR glasses were supplied by Chinese companies

Apple remains highly dependent on Chinese hardware suppliers. This is reported by the publication Insider.

Business media journalists studied the report of the Chinese consulting company Wellsenn XR, whose specialists analyzed the device of the Vision Pro MR glasses, presented at the beginning of the summer. According to experts, at least eight suppliers from China are involved in the production of a new headset.

These included firms such as camera module maker Cowell e Holdings and Luxshare, which directly assembles the device. Wellsenn XR specialists rated Apple’s dependence on local suppliers as high. Analysts concluded that Tim Cook’s corporation seeks to diversify its supply chains, but still remains highly dependent on the global manufacturing center.

The report also states that Apple does have some suppliers whose factories are located outside of China. These include South Korean Samsung and LG, Taiwanese Foxconn and Japanese Sony.

In early March, Bloomberg journalists said that Apple’s Chinese suppliers planned to move production to Vietnam and India. The report says that companies operating in China want to reduce risks due to growing tensions between Washington and Beijing.
