The children of peace, as the Mucutuy brothers are called in Colombia, are still cared for at the Bogotá Military Hospital, from where they travel the world with their memories of Wilson, the dog who accompanied them for several days in the jungle of Guaviare.
Sometimes, as if in a movie, they think back to those 40 days when they were lost in the intricate jungle, after the accident of the plane that took them from Araracuara to San José del Guaviare with their mother and two other adults.
In one of those mental “flashes” they remembered Wilson, the Belgian Shepherd who kept them company and with whom they would have played. The brothers Lesly, Soleiny, Tien Noriel and Cristín gave this beautiful specimen the greatest gift they had and received from it what they needed: love.
“Save yourself and your brothers”: the alleged plea of the mother of the 4 children rescued in the jungle of Colombia, which the maternal grandfather denied
Wilson in drawings
The AFP agency was able to learn that after a few days of care, the children “are very cheerful, they have colored, drawn. They like to talk (….) they have a very good character,” said Adriana Velásquez, deputy director of the Colombian Institute for Family Welfare (ICBF).
Stuffed animals, toys and crayons have arrived in their rooms at the Military Hospital.
Using those crayons, Lesly and Soleiny Mucutuy made moving color drawings of Wilson, the Belgian Shepherd rescue dog who went missing during their rescue mission.
On paper, they left scenes of the jungle with the dog. Lesly colored him brown, remembering his fur. Together with Wilson he captured a sun, trees, clouds and even a river full of fish.

Soleiny drew Wilson to a tree, a flower and the sun. The flag of his country, Colombia, and the message: ‘Always blessed’ also stand out.
Wilson is a rescue dog who got lost during the search, AFP recalled.
The children asked the military leaders to deliver their drawings to Wilson’s partner, who is still searching the jungle for him.
To Native leaders, Wilson is a “millennial warrior” and they continue to believe, “He will find us.”
From the hospital, Lesly and Soleiny, ages 13 and 9, made drawings in honor of Wilson. They say they, and their little brothers, are looking forward to the dog they found when they got home 🥺.

Carlos Andrés Villegas, “a civil defense dog handler, said Wilson was last seen on June 8 before disappearing into the jungle.”
“Wilson gave us directions, looked at us and wanted to tell us something. He left and returned to the jungle,” Villegas said, published in the Daily Mail.
#VamosPorWilson is the slogan of the members of the military. More than 100 men are looking for the dog, Noticias Caracol reported.
The operation is not over until our brave four-legged friend is with us. Wilson, we look forward to your return soon, you are once again a member of this military family.

Hope is not lost and General Helder Giraldo’s mission, La FM indicated, was clear this weekend: find the animal safe and sound. “A commando never leaves anyone behind.”
