General Motors has been working intensively for years to develop a new vision of mobility, with the aim of realizing the corporate vision of building a world without accidents, without congestion and without emissions. In this sense, GM is today the company that invests the most in research and development for the production of electric and autonomous vehicles, with an investment of USD 35 billion for the development of 30 new models by 2025, which do not use fossil fuels for their propulsion. .

For this reason, Chevrolet is beginning the era of electrification in Ecuador, introducing a strategy of solutions and channels for customers eager to transition to sustainable mobility, starting with the arrival of the Chevrolet Bolt EUV, the first zero-emission electric vehicle. the brand for this market.

Objective of General Motors of Ecuador with this proposal

Marcus Oliveira, commercial director of GM Ecuador, says the company’s goal is to lead sustainable mobility in South America with the introduction of the most advanced zero-emission vehicle technology, complementing the current portfolio of internal combustion engine vehicles and making progress in the transition until we reach a 100% electric future.

“Currently, the global automotive industry is going through one of the greatest transformations in its history, moving towards fully sustainable mobility through a process of disruption towards an electric, autonomous, connected and shared future. And we as a company are taking firm steps in that direction.”

Ecuador, strong market for Chevrolet

Oliveira mentions that Ecuador is one of the first four South American markets to be reached by Chevrolet’s electrification proposal, with the introduction of the Bolt EUV, the brand’s first electric model for the region. The executive says that models such as the Blazer EV and Equinox EV will also arrive in the coming months. “Two models that will feature the most advanced battery technology with the innovative Ultium platform, which will form the basis of General Motors’ proposal.”

Despite the fact that the electric market is still in its first phase of growth, Oliveira points out that Ecuador has all the potential to become one of the countries with the greatest development in electric mobility. So much so that this is the second market in the region reached by Chevrolet’s new electric vehicle offering.

“In addition, Ecuador has always been a leader in environmental stewardship, not only in terms of the efficiency of our processes and the application of environmental footprint management programs, but also in terms of incorporating new, friendlier technologies. The launch of the electrification strategy therefore contributes to the objective of moving towards more sustainable mobility,” he says.

How do you build trust with electric vehicles?

Most of the myths and fears customers had regarding the adoption of this technology are gradually being resolved thanks to technological development, Oliveira emphasizes.

“Electric vehicles offer more and more autonomy, the charging infrastructure is growing rapidly and technological development leads to a significant reduction in the cost of owning an electric vehicle. We see that electrification is consolidating as an accessible, practical and efficient mobility option for everyone”.

He adds that customers are looking every day for vehicles with better technology and more environmentally friendly “because they understand the need to move towards a sustainable mobility model; For this reason, companies are making an effort to mass-produce and make this technology available to everyone. With these considerations in mind, we at General Motors are convinced that now is the right time to start the transition in Ecuador and in the region.”

Chevrolet Bolt EUV begins transition to electrification

The Chevrolet Bolt EUV is, according to Oliveira, a model with advanced technology, which has been extensively tested in various markets, has achieved great success and has been requested by customers in Ecuador. “It incorporates superior features in terms of safety, performance, connectivity and technology, which has enabled it to consolidate itself as one of the best-selling electric models in the markets in which we operate.”

Oliveira adds that given the development of the Ecuadorian market and its potential, they have been considered by the company for the presentation of an exclusive series of Chevrolet Bolt EUV units for the first customers who want to take a leap towards sustainable mobility . This model is the culmination of more than a decade of General Motors’ experience in the development of electric vehicle technology, and its arrival marks the beginning of a new era of mobility.

Future of Chevrolet in the automotive industry

At the beginning of the year, the brand announced eight launches of new models and versions in different segments, strengthening the portfolio and consolidating Chevrolet’s value offering in the Ecuadorian market, including the brand’s first electric vehicles.

“We have already presented the Chevrolet Silverado Trailboss Z71 truck, now we are presenting our Bolt EUV electric SUV, soon the expected Chevrolet Montana and in the coming months there will be more surprises from the brand preferred by Ecuadorians,” says Oliveira .

In other words, Chevrolet continues to consolidate the vehicle portfolio in the country to provide its customers with the best mobility solutions.
