The data leak occurred on the night from Friday to Saturday – Bank Śląski on its website. The bank received information that there was a leak from the database of one of the card operators, whose name has not been disclosed. However, ING points out that the problems affect only a small part of customers and the situation is under control.
Credit card details leaked. The bank blocked them
ING Bank Śląski informs that as soon as it learned about the incident, it identified a group of payment cards whose data had leaked and blocked them. All this so that cybercriminals cannot take advantage of the opportunity. This means that customers cannot and will no longer be able to use blocked cards. ING also points out that reaching the bank’s hotline can be troublesome due to the large number of callers. As we read, each aggrieved customer should now independently block blocked cards using the bank’s transaction service. Only then will it be possible to order a new payment card. The bank points out that the replacement of a blocked card is free of charge, and the new card can be used for contactless payments by phone immediately after ordering it.
“If you are one of the people whose card we had to block, we apologize for the inconvenience. We know how annoying it is when you can’t use your money. Data leaks are part of the modern digital world. It’s our job to guard your safety, privacy and money. We try to do it as best we can,” we read on the ING Bank Śląski website. All persons whose cards have been leaked should already be notified via SMS.
