DSCC Analyst Yang: Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 has become the most popular foldable smartphone
The Samsung smartphone was the most popular foldable smartphone on the market in the first quarter of 2023. This was announced by Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) analyst Ross Young in his Twitter.
The specialist called the most popular gadget in the segment Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4, which received a share of 27 percent. The second position is occupied by Huawei Pocket S – 15 percent, the third – by Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 – 13 percent. The top 5 devices also included Oppo Find N2 Flip and Huawei Mate X3.
Ross Young recalled that shipments of foldable smartphones peaked in the third quarter of 2022 – since then, manufacturers have shipped fewer and fewer devices to the market. In the first quarter of the year, shipments fell, the decline was recorded for the second quarter in a row. The market volume for the first three months of 2023 was 2.1 million units.
In addition, Ross Young disclosed that market leader Samsung received a 45 percent share, the lowest of all time. In second place was the Chinese company Oppo, whose share was 21 percent.
Earlier, a source at Samsung Corporation said that the South Korean company will introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldable smartphones on July 26. The devices are expected to go on sale on August 11.
