A passenger bus driver tried to take 960 cans of red caviar from Primorsky Krai to China without paying customs duties. This is reported by TASS with reference to the Border Directorate of the FSB in the Primorsky Territory.
“Before the customs inspection of the passenger bus, the driver, a Chinese citizen, explained that he did not have goods restricted for export and subject to mandatory declaration. However, during the customs control, the attention of the inspectors was attracted by 16 cardboard boxes that were in the passenger compartment of the bus. Each box was packed with 60 metal cans of salmon caviar,” the ministry said.
It is specified that the weight of smuggled goods exceeded 120 kg.
The driver tried to smuggle caviar across the border covertly, without paying customs duties. He explained to the border guards that he was carrying the cans not for himself, but at the request of a friend for a fee.
The Ussuri Customs opened an administrative case under part 1 of Article 16.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (non-declaration or false declaration of goods). The violator faces a fine up to twice the value of the goods with their confiscation.
