A white or white lie told to her son does not weigh heavily on Ghewan Arja’s heart nor does guilt haunt her. She knows she said it so her child would leave this world alone.

Ghewan’s son was 10 years old when he was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in July 2021. He had to undergo surgery and then chemotherapy sessions.

Little Omar began treatment, but unfortunately he showed no improvement and the doctors brought another painful message: the disease was incurable.

What lie did he tell his son?

Australian-born Ghewan Arja has shared her story on TikTok and according to Telecinco, the case has won over users from different countries.

Media, such as BíoBío in Chile, report that Arja has lost her three children. Two had cancer. It was with the latter with whom he had the experience of facing the disease.

When she was told the cancer was incurable, she thought about what she needed to do to make sure her child didn’t suffer anymore. I’ve had enough of the effects of chemo.

He says he finally decided to return home with Omar “so that he might die surrounded by his relatives”.

He hid the truth from her and told him that he had beaten cancer. This mom confesses, “It was one of the worst days of my life.”

Then came another difficult moment: watching him ring the doorbell. Being the truth is very different.

This is a ritual that is widespread all over the world and that, according to the Imbanaco Medical Center, is a symbol of hope, given the possibility of beating cancer and bringing about a symbolic conclusion to this difficult process.

Ghewan Arja posted the video of Omar emotionally ringing the doorbell. She, behind the child, applauds; then dry her tears.

“One of the worst days of my life. lie to him Tell him his treatment went well and it was finally over and he could ring the bell because it was over.”

Not losing one child, but three

Bíobío explains that the woman said she lost her 4-year-old daughter Aisha in 2009, who died of a rare condition called Niemann-Pick type C.

This is a rare hereditary disease that affects the body’s ability to metabolize fats (cholesterol and lipids) in cells. These cells malfunction and eventually die, the Mayo Clinic lists.

Ten years later, his 9-year-old son, Mohammed, died of an aggressive brain tumor.

With her third child, Omar, she had another difficult experience. What to do in a situation like this Australian mother’s? She asked herself the same question and her heart led her to decide what was best for her child: keep quiet, try to make his final days more bearable.

The Australian said the boy went home and died in January 2022.

According to Telecinco, he wondered: What should he tell him? , that the treatment that gave him several surgeries has not worked and he has to go home until he dies?” I ask. You lie what you have to lie to protect your son.

Facing pain, he searches for the videos he has of Omar. “Every time I feel like giving up I watch these videos and see how strong you fought, it makes me never want to give up.”
