It has been reported for some time that WhatsApp is working on a new feature that allows you to edit already sent messages.

The tool has been in development for several months and has barely reached a few beta users, but that could change as it is reportedly in the final step of its official launch, as published by WABetaInfo.

If you write a comment on other social networks such as Facebook and you have made a mistake, it is possible to correct it with the edit function.

However, in WhatsApp the reality is different, until now it was not possible to edit a message, so most of the people delete the message or correct it with a new message.

WABetaInfo reports that the new beta version of WhatsApp Web beta 2.2319.9 shows for the first time the new message editing feature on the platform, which is actually already available to some users.

When you send messages through this version of the platform, in the options of our sent messages, accessible via the arrow in the top right corner, the new “Edit message” will appear.

Well, the point here is that WhatsApp will finally break through this hindrance and have a new feature that offers the ability to edit messages.

With the new WhatsApp update, you can add descriptions to the messages you forward and that’s how it works

How does editing sent WhatsApp messages work?

The procedure is similar to editing a comment on Facebook, you need to select the sent message and then click edit.

This feature gives users up to 15 minutes to edit their posts so you can correct an error, change the post, or add more information. Posts that you edit are marked with an “edited” tag.

It is worth noting that if the person receiving the message does not have the update, they will receive the message as an “unsupported message”. This means that if a user receives an edited message, they will only be able to see it if they have the updated version of WhatsApp.

The feature is currently in testing phase, only a lucky few have it, but it will be expanded to more users in the coming days.
