Attack on TVP.Info account. Moderators have secured the profile with a “padlock”

“We had to take decisive steps. On Tuesday we secured access to the tvp.info account on Twitter,” writes TVP.info. The station claims that its Twitter profile has been attacked and, as in the case of the account of the Belarusian Nexta website, the Russian services are said to be behind the attack to celebrate Victory Day on May 9.

The .Info channel reported that the station’s Twitter profile had become the target of an attack. “Due to the attack of bots on our account, we decided to temporarily secure our profile (so-called padlock).” – we read in the first of the messages. Another one appeared shortly after. “For several days there has been an unprecedented bot attack on the profile of the http://tvp.info portal on Twitter. The purpose of this type of operation is usually to cut the range” – we read.

The station claims that the date of the attack is not accidental and is related to Russia’s Victory Day, which falls on Monday, May 9. Such suggestions were posted by both Samuel Pereiera, head of TVP.info (he manages it as deputy head of TAI), and the station itself on its website.

TVP.info claims that it was attacked

What is the attack? It is about “mass following of the profile by new users, and then unfollowing them (so-called unfollow)” – we read on the station’s website. These actions are to be “performed by an organized network of bots”, and the effect of the actions “may affect the Twitter algorithms, which, when noting suspicious activity on the account, stop promoting it and limit the reach of tweets” – explains TVP.info.

We had to take decisive action. Secure access to the tvp.info account on Twitter on Tuesday. It is now “padlocked” to stop unwanted bot activity

– we read in the material. And indeed – a padlock appeared next to the TVP logo. According to TVP.info, a similar attack was made on the account of the Belarusian opposition website Nexta. “Today is a special day for Putin and his Z-patriots. It is a proud day for their propaganda. Therefore, it is more important than ever for them to push through their program and silence all those who disagree with it,” the post reads.
