“Street vendors also have dreams,” says a young man who has just completed his university education and looks back on the last 10 years of his life with both feet on the ground, is proud and inspires thousands of people.

This new story of perseverance and humility is going viral thanks to the example of Eduardo Chamé, a native of Chiapas, Mexico. It has shown that in times of economic hardship it is also possible to strive for a better life, to live up to the phrase “the one who wants more than the one who can”.

Eduardo to embrace the future he dreamed of, he forged it. He worked tirelessly on the street. He sold balloons.

Those balloons contained his dreams. “You often have to work twice, go to study in the sun, in the rain and tired.” Photo: Pexels/Padli Pradana

In order not to forget his past, he published two photos of himself from two different but important moments: on the left he, in a suit, happy; on the right himself, on the public road with his balloons full of dreams to sell.

This young man, who is 23 years old today, tested himself to grow in difficult times.

“We don’t all have the same opportunities, often we have to work double, go to study in the sun, in the rain and tiredawake and wondering if it will really be that much effort, and now I can assure you that it is worth it, because today I feel great happiness for reaching this moment that often seemed eternal to me,” shared Eduardo.

The gratitude of Eduardo, a balloon seller

“For years I have made an effort to move forward. It has not been easy for me at all, but little by little I am achieving my goals,” he says via Facebook, a network in which users welcomed his example and from there it went viral.

According to the young man’s profile, Telediario explains: “Eduardo studied Accounting at the Autonomous University of Chiapas.”

He is a grateful boy. His words are primarily addressed to God and his family.

But he similarly thanks those who approached him in a decade, saw his colorful balloons and decided to buy him.

Blessings rain down on him for the message he leaves on Facebook:

“I also want to thank all the parents who ever bought balloons for their children. Thanks to them I was able to pay for my tickets, registration fees, books, food, and they helped me achieve my goals without even knowing it.”

Work with dignity

With maturity, today he downplays those who came to criticize him or tried to humiliate him by watching him sell his balloons.

“At the same time I want to say to anyone who has ever made fun of me that there is no shameful job, that if you want to get ahead you have to work at whatever it is.

street vendors are people who also have dreams, who forge our future. That salesperson you reject today is the professional you need tomorrow
