While decades ago it was hard for the world to imagine phones could have screens, we now have a new perspective on technology that shows us that no invention is permanent.

The smartphoneswhich are still being updated with new designs and features, could cease to exist with the creation of a new device from artificial intelligence it has no screen.

That’s the purpose of humane, an artificial intelligence company that has already presented a demo of the device that could change our lives. The company was founded by Imran Chaudri And Bethany Bongiornotwo former Apple employees, whose target is “save people from technology”.

The device they are developing can be projected onto your hand or any other flat surface and has a variety of functions to help the user. Being one of the most basic features receive and make calls, set alarms and schedule events.

However, the device would also have a built-in camera that could translate text in real time, and in a more surprising twist, scan a product’s ingredients to see if the user can consume it, based on their dietary restrictions.

“It’s a new type of wearable device and platform that is completely built from the ground up for artificial intelligence”, said Chaudri at the presentation of the device. “And it is completely independent. You don’t need a smartphone or other device to pair it”.

“We like to say the experience is screenless, fluid and responsive, allowing you to access the power of computing while remaining present in your environment, striking a balance that hasn’t been out of place for a while,” said Chaudri.

It’s too early to decide how far Humane’s device could replace a traditional smartphone, but it will meet user expectations when it goes on sale.
