The Verge: Microsoft will continue to release PC accessories under the Surface brand

Microsoft will not produce gadgets and computer accessories under its own brand. This is reported by The Verge.

Microsoft Senior Communications Manager Dan Laycock said in a conversation with reporters that the company will stop producing devices under the familiar brand name. Instead, all new mice, keyboards, webcams and other PC accessories will be made under the Surface brand.

Laycock noted that third-party stores will continue to sell accessories under Microsoft’s own brand for some time, until stocks run out. Journalists noted that the company also denied rumors that it would stop producing computer accessories under the Surface brand – on the contrary, all gadgets of the American corporation would be released under this brand.

A spokesperson for the IT giant declined to reveal whether the company would offer affordable devices under the Surface brand. Earlier, the authors of The Verge noted that the Surface keyboard is available in the corporation’s online store for $129, while a similar device under the Microsoft brand costs only $59.99.

The first gadget released by Microsoft was a computer mouse, introduced in 1985. The accessory has been adapted to work with Word and Notepad text editors.

Earlier, Microsoft announced that they would no longer release updates for Windows 10. Support for the OS with security patches will last until October 14, 2025.
