The White House said the loss of US competitiveness in the production of advanced chips
Assistant to the US President for national security Jake Sullivan said that US competitiveness in the field of critical technologies is undermined. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
“The United States has not just lost production, we have undermined our competitiveness in terms of critical technologies that will determine the future,” a White House spokesman said at a themed event.
Sullivan added that Washington now produces about 10 percent of the world’s semiconductors. According to him, the creation of the most advanced chips is geographically located “in a completely different place.” “This creates critical risks for the economy and vulnerabilities in the field of national security,” he concluded.
Earlier, the US asked South Korea for support in the trade war with China. They urged Seoul to influence the largest suppliers Samsung and Hynix, so that they do not increase sales.
