Vyacheslav Fetisov called recommendations for admission to the 2024 Olympics a flaw in Russia
Two-time Olympic hockey champion, State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov named the reason for the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on the admission of Russian athletes to tournaments. His words are quoted by Vechernyaya Moskva.
The deputy considered the incident a defect of the Russian side. “There is complete chaos. We have not managed to make sure that no one touches Russia. There are not enough authorities to put them all in their place,” he said.
On March 28, the IOC recommended that Belarusians and Russians who did not support the special operation in Ukraine be allowed to compete in a neutral status. At the same time, athletes from Russia and Belarus associated with the armed forces or security agencies of their countries are recommended to be suspended from participating in tournaments. It was noted that teams from these countries cannot be considered as participants in the competition.
At the end of February 2022, most sports organizations suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus on the recommendation of the IOC. The decision on the participation of representatives of these countries in the 2024 Olympics has not yet been made.
