PhoneArena: Samsung will use quick-release batteries in foldable smartphones
Samsung is returning removable batteries to some of its smartphones. This is reported by the publication PhoneArena.
According to the journalists of the portal, South Korea has recently certified new batteries for Samsung smartphones. According to the information that appeared on the network, the batteries will be adapted for quick maintenance and replacement. So, the batteries will receive a simplified design and a special tab for easy removal.
Apparently, the new batteries will appear in the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 foldable devices, which the company should announce at the end of the summer. Previously, similar quick-release batteries appeared in the Galaxy S23 series smartphones. According to experts, the components used by Samsung will simplify the repair of devices.
The journalists noticed that specifically the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will use a smaller battery than the Galaxy Z Flip 4. This is due to the fact that the new devices will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which is characterized by reduced power consumption.
At the end of December, Wccftech journalists suggested that smartphones with removable batteries could appear on the European market over the next few years. According to experts, this is due to a new EU bill, according to which manufacturers will be required to have a high degree of maintainability of phones.
