“Death is the reality of life (…) nothing lasts forever.” This post was recorded on TikTok by a Dominican social communicator and actress, who was killed by her ex-partner on Holy Saturday.

Taking a bullet to the head, the man who claimed to love her took her own life and a few seconds later committed suicide.

Jensy Graciano, 35, was 10 years older than Chantal Jiménez, whom he had already shot and was imprisoned for.

This tragedy, which took place in the Fernández Urbanization in the National District, is a wake-up call for the people of the Dominican Republic.

Betrayal

Disconsolate, surprised and above all betrayed, he says he feels like Chantal’s father.

Roque Jiménez regrets what happened on the evening of Saturday, April 8, 2023, when Jensy, “whom he treated like family”, took Chantal’s life.

“My Chanty, I will not see her again. He was always with me, up and down, and Jensy comes and betrays me,” he told the CDN news channel, reports Diario Libre.

Roque related that “On one occasion, Jensy Graciano went to the apartment where her daughter was and fired a shot, for which she was arrested and a restraining order was issued against her.”

My daughter had a restraining order placed on her ex-partner after he fired a shot at her, from which she was able to escape unharmed after fleeing in his vehicle.

Roque regrets that he himself had called his Chanty “and told him to go (to the place where he was being held) so that they could release him.”

The communicator’s father believed Jensy’s words: “I would have assured her that there was nothing else, that she would not go further after her daughter.”

According to Jiménez, that man, Jensy, had told him that he had gone to the city of Santiago. That gave him some peace.

Last Saturday afternoon Chantal was at work. “She called me to ask me to go find her,” she recalls.

Meanwhile, she moved to a friend’s house where her executioner allegedly found her, Diario Libre reported.

The followers of the young communicator, who was also an actress, remember the video and the message that Chantal left on March 27.

On TikTok, Chantal said: “Death is the reality of life. Everything has its end. Nothing lasts forever. And whoever does not enjoy what he has today, will surely regret it tomorrow.

In the video, in which he expresses thoughtful words, he asked all his followers to show love to the people they love and appreciate life, Hoy published.

My Miss Universe is gone, the mother says

“My princess, my Miss Universe, my beautiful girl has left me.”

So said, between tears, Chantal’s mother.

According to the Dominican press, she explained at the funeral home that no one had warned her about this tragedy that had taken away one of her three children.

“When I turned on the television, I saw that they were saying something about a death and that was my princess’s,” the woman screamed.

Take me too, because with my cacona (Chantal) a big part of me is gone, mister Jesus, said the woman.

no more femicides

Dominicans generally reject this death. One of the first to speak out was “El Mayimbe”, the merenguero Fernandito Villalona.

He said Chantal was “another victim of how bad we are as a society. Looking in the mirror and talking to ourselves is a task we all have to accomplish when it comes to caring, raising awareness and respect for women.

(…) Let’s stop the violence,” said the singer.

What will happen to the men, they wonder on the Caribbean island.

A Chantal employee said: “Gentlemen, we must raise our voices so that this does not continue to happen, enough is enough. No more femicides, no more deaths.”

“This has not been forgiven by God,” cries Roque Jiménez. For this man, “if the son bury the father, that’s fine, but the father doesn’t bury the son… Life can’t be like that, no!”
