MPs and senators are to receive new tablets worth PLN 2.8 million. The Chancelleries of the Sejm and the Senate are convinced that this purchase simply pays off, according to “Rzeczpospolita”.

In the coming months, the Chancellery intends to allocate PLN 2.38 million for the new one, and the Chancellery of the Senate – PLN 407,000. zloty. Reason? The Information Center of the Sejm gave the newspaper a brief explanation that the number of tablets will be higher than the number of deputiesand surplus devices are to be kept as spares.

It is mainly about savings on the cost of printing and paper” – we read in “Rz”. “Digitization of the circulation of parliamentary documents is a beneficial solution – it speeds up their delivery to the addressees, and by saving paper it is also ecological (in the segment of parliamentary prints, paper savings reach 90 percent)” – explains the Sejm Information Centre, quoted by the newspaper.

In 2019, the Sejm bought 600 new Apple tablets. “Assuming they will be the same again, the price for one device will be about 4 thousand.” – estimates “Rzeczpospolita”. Moreover, these devices will also be available for purchase at the end of the term of office in 2023. She estimated that in 2019, the average redemption price in the Sejm ranged from PLN 350 to PLN 500. Why is the redemption price so low? Chancelleries want as many deputies and senators as possible to buy these devices – otherwise, as the law firms argue, tablets should be destroyed for fear of data leakage.
