The earthquake was recorded at 5:18 p.m. (local time) with an epicenter in the Pacific Ocean, 45 miles south of the coastal municipality of Boca Chica, 44 miles west of Coiba Island, near tiny Montuosa Island, according to the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc).
“There are no effects from the recent earthquake on Coiba Island,” Sinaproc said on Twitter..

The earthquake, with a depth of 10 km, was felt in the Panamanian capitalwhere dozens of skyscrapers stand, about 350 km from the epicenter.
“The National Emergency Operations Center continues to monitor,” Sinaproc said.
