President Joe Biden said Tuesday that most Americans find it “strange” and is against the possession of military-style gunsregularly used in massacres such as the one at Nashville Elementary School.
“Most Americans think owning assault weapons is a weird, crazy idea. They are against that,” he told reporters at the White House when asked about the new tragedy that has sent the country into mourning.
The attacker broke in two assault rifles at The Covenant School Christian Elementary School in Nashville, Tennessee (southeast), killing three children and three staff before being shot dead by police officers.

Biden continued his criticism of the possession of assault weapons mourn the “heartbreaking” deaths, according to his statements in North Carolina, where he visited a semiconductor factory.
“There’s nothing like losing a childsaid Biden, who lost a daughter in a car accident in 1972 and his adult son Beau to cancer in 2015.
In previous comments, Biden expressed annoyance that Congress did not end authorization for legal possession of semi-automatic rifles, such as the popular AR-15, and stressed that there was no more he could do.
“I have used the full extent of my executive power to conduct all weapons-related matters myself. Now Congress must act,” he told reporters.
The Democratic president has long called on Congress to ban or at least limit the possession of these guns, which are designed to inflict as many casualties as possible, but the Republicans, who now have a majority in the House of Representatives, oppose it.
