A 120-year-old church that ceased to be a sacred site in the 1970s is now the surprising dream home of a couple in Maryland, USA.

Gunther and Anastasiia bought the property in 2017 for $320,000, says La Nación.

They share their experience on Instagram with the renovation of the old church, which was built 120 years ago.

According to La Nación, the biggest changes so far have been in the kitchen, where they’ve been working for about three months.

In that time, they were able to “replace the joists, re-floor, update the plumbing and electrical, and install new cabinets and countertops.”

The biggest challenge, they noted, “was making sure the additions complemented the original style of the church.”
