Technicians from EP Petroecuador and the Army Corps of Engineers are advancing construction work on a new tower at kilometer 97 of the Transecuadorian Pipeline System (SOTE) air passage, the state oil company reported in a statement issued on March 25.

The goal is to protect the infrastructure and operations of SOTE, considering the increase in the flow of the Marker River, which is located in the province of Napo. These preventive tasks will allow the tower to be moved 20 meters away from critical points in the area, Petroecuador explained.

The Deputy Director General of EP Petroecuador, MarĂa Elisa Soledispa, agreed on coordinated work on preventive actions that enable the protection of pipeline infrastructure and mitigate future consequences. In addition, he reported that the installation of the new tower, located in the Marker River sector, and the reinforcement of the other existing tower are currently being completed.

According to him according to the planned schedule, these preventive tasks end at the end of March, so that the technical staff works in 24-hour shifts.

The trans-Ecuadorian oil pipeline system has a transportation capacity of 360,000 barrels of oil per day.
