DSCC: iPhone 14 Plus proved to be much more popular than the compact iPhone 13 mini
Apple’s new low-cost smartphone proved to be more popular than an affordable model released in 2021. This is reported by the publication PhoneArena.
The journalists cited a report from the Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) agency, which verified data on the purchase of front panels for Apple smartphones. From the disclosed documents, it follows that the new cheap model of the iPhone 14 Plus with a large screen turned out to be much more in demand than its predecessor, the compact iPhone 13 mini, released in 2021. At the same time, the iPhone 14 Plus turned out to be the least popular device of all devices in the line.
According to the report, shipments of displays for the iPhone 14 Plus exceeded shipments of panels for the iPhone 13 mini by 59 percent. “This settles the Plus vs. Mini dispute once and for all,” the reporters said. The authors recalled that the American company was disappointed with the low popularity of the compact phone and instead released the 14 Plus, which has a 6.7-inch screen and is priced at $899. Journalists stressed that Apple accurately guessed the desire of the consumer.
Also, DSCC analysts said that shipments of displays for the iPhone 14 series devices increased by 2 percent compared with the shipments of screens for the iPhone 13. The material says that sales of the current generation of smartphones bring Apple more profit than the previous one.
In October 2022, DSCC analyst Ross Young stated that the iPhone 14 base smartphone is not very popular. It turned out that the American company ordered 18 percent fewer panels for the iPhone 14 than it required for the iPhone 13 in 2021.
