In last weeks Ukrainian studio GSC Game World from the Vestnik TSS group who stole materials from the upcoming production of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The blackmailers demanded from the creators, among other things, restoring the Russian translation of the game, unbanning one of the members of their group on the official Discord, as well as an apology from the studio for its social media posts in which it condemned Russian aggression against Ukraine.
GSC Games World responded with a strong statement at that time, in which it emphasized that it had no intention of meeting the demands of the Russians.
We are a Ukrainian company and like many Ukrainians, we have experienced many things that are much worse than blackmail: destroyed homes, ruined lives and the death of our loved ones. Attempts to intimidate us are therefore doomed to failure
– we could read in the entry published on Twitter. At the same time, the developer appealed to the players not to look at the stolen game materials, if they are actually published by the Russians.
STALKER 2. Game footage leaked online. Don’t watch them!
The Russians apparently carried out their threats. On Wednesday, materials from the game leaked online, including a six-minute gameplay video, story info, maps, and even internal designer documents. Joining the creators’ appeal, however, in this article we will not write where you can find such files.
What’s more, we strongly advise against getting acquainted with the materials stolen by the Russians. Firstly, they can reveal elements of the plot, which will spoil your later fun. Secondly, it is still a “raw” version of the game, which may undergo many changes until its release. Thirdly, giving thieves satisfaction is the last thing we should care about.
Fourthly, finally, in this way you can show support to the Ukrainian studio, which is struggling with numerous difficulties. Recall that after the outbreak of war in Ukraine, GSC Game World moved its headquarters from Ukraine to the Czech Republic, and some employees went to the front to defend their country against the Russians. However, the creators still believe that STALKER 2 will reach the players in 2023.
STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl is a direct continuation of the post-apocalyptic FPS from 2007, which gained great popularity (also in Poland). The title will again take us to the dark Zone – a vast area around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
