The suit, made by Axiom Space, It was revealed during an act that the US space agency carried out from the Houston Center in Texas. The clothes cost $228 million.
“We are carrying on NASA’s legacy by designing an advanced spacesuit that will allow astronauts to operate safely and effectively on the moonsaid Michael T. Suffredini, president of Axiom Space.
Preview of the new suit
The prototype of the suit on display is black. However, the one that will be used will be white to reflect the heat and protect astronauts from high temperatures, NASA explained in a statement. The clothing provides astronauts with advanced capabilities for lunar exploration. It even has a set of tools specifically developed for accessing, living and working in space.
Artemis III mission
In this mission, four astronauts take off in an Orion spacecraft. They will perform maneuvers around the Earth similar to the Artemis II cosmonauts before heading towards the Moon.
The crew will travel for several days to the satellite, where the ship will be located in a nearly rectilinear lunar halo orbit; that is, very close to the surface. At this point, two of the astronauts will descend to the moon and lands near the moon’s south polewhere NASA wants to launch explorations.
The reconnaissance mission will last six and a half days. Meanwhile, the other two crew members remain in Orion to remain in close orbit during those days. Then the four astronauts meet in the Orion spacecraft and travel to Earth at a speed of 40,000 kilometers per hour.
