Samsung flagship camera criticized for cheating

On Reddit exposed the ability of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra camera to shoot space photos

A Reddit visitor criticized the creators of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra camera for deceiving consumers and accused the company of lying. The corresponding post appeared on the website of the site.

The user of the platform under the nickname ibreakphotos doubted that the camera of the new Samsung flagship can really take high-quality images of space objects. A Reddit visitor tried to expose the hoax and prove that the Galaxy S23 Ultra camera does not actually take real pictures, but generates an image using neural networks.

The enthusiast downloaded a clear image of the moon, blurred it with a photo editor so that all the details disappeared. The user then took a picture of the monitor screen showing the edited moon and demonstrated that the smartphone produced a detailed shot. According to ibreakphotos, it is impossible to get a high-quality photo in such conditions without internal processing, since all the details of the space object were destroyed.

“Samsung photos of the Moon are fake. Samsung marketing is deceptive,” said the user. According to him, the Korean company’s devices substitute the image of the moon to make the consumer think that the camera of smartphones can take amazing pictures.

Journalists from SamMobile noted that Huawei was previously accused of creating fake lunar images. In 2019, researchers found that the flagship P30 Pro, in the process of shooting the Moon, substituted its image from a collection of photographs of the Earth’s satellite.

Earlier, Chinese insiders said that Samsung and Xiaomi were close to creating a solid-state battery for a smartphone. According to experts, such a battery retains energy better and is protected from overheating and fire.
