For over a hundred days, Ukrainians have been defending Bakhmut from the Russian army and the Wagner Group. It is known that the situation in the city is very difficult, but – despite many rumors and reports – Ukrainian soldiers remain in their positions and fight the enemy.
Bakhmut. Recording from inside the BTR-4 Bucephalus
A recording has appeared on the network that is supposed to show what the reality in Bakhmut looks like. Ukrainians move around the city in a wheeled armored personnel carrier BTR-4E. It is a combat vehicle designed and manufactured from scratch in Ukraine.
“This is the highest class equipment capable of fighting not only with its counterparts, but also with main battle tanks or combat vehicles. The weight of the BTR-4 is 18 tons with the basic level of protection provided and over 22 tons with additional armor of various versions. The transporter is 7650 mm long, 2930 mm wide and 2930 mm high with the turret mounted. The ground clearance of the vehicle is 475 mm.
The video from Bakhmut shows the Ukrainian shelling of the area with the ZTM-1 automatic cannon with a caliber of 30 mm. The next part of the video shows how soldiers try to break through the buildings of the ruined city. They are under almost constant fire from the Russians.
British MoD: Wagner’s group has taken most of eastern Bakhmut
Meanwhile, the UK Ministry of Defense said in a daily report that the Wagner Group had occupied most of the smaller eastern part of Bakhmut. The front line in the city is now marked by the Bachmutka River crossing it from north to south.
The Ukrainians destroyed the river crossings and established new defensive positions in buildings on the west bank. The soldiers on both sides are separated by a strip 200 to 800 meters wide. According to the British, crossing the river and getting closer to the new Ukrainian positions will be more difficult for the Wagner Group than before.
Ukrainian supply lines from the west are in danger of being cut due to Russian attempts to encircle Bakhmut.
