Like every year, there are watches in the United States and other parts of the world advance one hour to make way for daylight saving time. From next Sunday, March 12, summer time will apply in some regions of the North American country.

Daylight saving time marks the beginning of this season and is used to it save energy in homessuch as the use of electrical appliances, and gain an hour of daylight. By moving forward an hour, the inhabitants of these cities can enjoy the sunlight even longer.

In winter, that time is restored when the clocks show normal time again. Since the night falls faster at this time, it is more convenient to get up earlier than in the summer. This way, the day ends earlier, as it gets dark earlier.

Some clocks, such as those on smartphones, automatically adjust for daylight saving time. These change at 2:00 AM, so they officially become 3:00 AM. Manual watches must be adjusted by their owners to reflect the time change.

Only in some parts of the United States are residents unconcerned about the time change because they keep standard time all year round, which corresponds to winter time. This is in Alaska, Hawaii and much of Arizona.
