Receiving calls from unknown numbers or even spam calls is a situation that currently escapes WhatsApp’s encrypted security, although a new platform feature could prevent you from getting those pesky notifications.

The problem is caused not only by the fact that your mobile device activities are paralyzed, but also that your number is easily exposed to unknown people through communities, which is a privacy issue for users.

That’s why the developers of the company Meta are working on a new feature that will allow you to manage the calls you receive and limit notifications from numbers that are not in your phonebook.

The new feature is only available to WhatsApp Beta users with Android devices.

Here’s how to mute unknown calls on WhatsApp

It should be noted that this tool has recently started its trial period and is only available to WhatsApp Beta users with an Android phone, as published by Xataca.

As you can see, the interface of this option is simple, so it is surprising that it was not activated along with the appearance of the major groups in the application.

WhatsApp allows you to report conditions if they do not comply with the rules of the app

The option should be available in the settings, specifically in the notifications section and you just need to hit “Mute Unknown Calls” to do its job.

For its part, WABetaInfo reports that while your workflow on the phone won’t be interrupted, you can still see the notification in the WhatsApp call menu, as it’s still impossible to block unknown numbers 100%.

Since it is still in development, the design will probably be changed in the future before being released in the original application.
