From January 1, 2024 young women under the age of 25 will have their menstrual protection covered by the government of France.
The authorities ordered that the menstrual cup and underwear will be refunded as a measure against menstrual insecurity.
“It is inconceivable that women do not get the protection they needPrime Minister Élisabeth Borne told France 5 on Monday evening, two days before International Women’s Day. “We are going to introduce a Social Security refund of reusable periodic protections starting next year,” he added.
To be reimbursed by Social Security, young women must purchase this periodic protection in pharmacies. This will be possible “without a medical order”, explains Borne.
Menstrual insecurity is a reality that hits trop de femmes.

The measure will be included in the 2024 budget, the center head of government explained.
The French state increased the budget for the fight against menstrual insecurity to five million euros in 2022 to support actions aimed at women in a precarious situation, especially those living on the streets or in transit hotels.
