That day Brian was very aggressive in a restaurant. A woman named Nina Celie Angelo posted on her Instagram account that she witnessed an explosive fight between Brian and Gabby that day at the Merry Piglet restaurant in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

(…) When I close my eyes, I see myself lying on the roof of the van, falling asleep watching a meteor (…) I will always love you. (…) I’m sorry for everyone affected by this.

Gabby was the love of my life. (….) I’m sorry for his family, because he loved them. (…) I’m sorry for my family. For them it is a shock and also a huge loss. They loved her very much, if not more than they loved me. (…) What happened is an unexpected tragedy. Trying to run to our car, trying to cross overflowing streams before it got too dark and cold to see.

I heard a splash and a scream. I could barely see her, I couldn’t find her, I called her name. I noticed that she was breathing heavily, whispering my name, frozen with cold (…) she was soaked. I dragged it as far downriver as possible to the car, staggering, exhausted, in shock (…) realizing I couldn’t carry it safely. I built a fire and moved it as close as I could. She was so thin and she had been so cold before.

She had a small bruise on her forehead that was getting bigger. Her feet ached, her wrists ached, she was frozen and shaking violently.

I didn’t realize then that I should have lit the fire sooner (…) As I wore it, I moaned in pain. Lying next to her, I saw her gasp, begging to stop suffering. I didn’t want him to fall asleep in case he got a concussion.
