The last they know about Mónica de la Llana is that she didn’t go to the scheduled meeting with a friend for July 21 and her partner, Carlos, insists he left her at the bus stop.

Her family, in Spain, tells El Periódico de España that “Mónica had moved with Carlos to a small town in Priorat, La Morera de Montsant (Tarragona)”. Tarragona is a port city in the Catalonia region of northeastern Spain.

Monica, the mother of a 21-year-old boy, had no permanent job, they say. She eventually worked as a waitress in a restaurant.

The fear of his disappearance arose when several facts came together.

On Tuesday, July 19 last year, Mónica de la Llana met a friend: “See you Thursday. I’ll tell you what happens to me.” But the conversation never happened.

Before going with her friend, she had to go through some clothes at a friend’s house, who also thought it was strange that she didn’t go.

“In the end you didn’t come, you will tell me what happened to you,” he told her in an unanswered message.

The sister also says that Mónica did not show up for work that weekend.

And if that wasn’t enough, he didn’t call to inquire about the recovery of his mother, who had undergone surgery.

That word, wrong, haunts his mind. He’s known since he noticed that Monica’s last connection on WhatsApp was July 21 and she hadn’t been on Facebook in a long time.

We were in early August… It gave me chills. That was impossible, he says.

Carlos’ behavior

Monica needs medication for her asthma and also for a cardiac arrhythmia. He did not take it and the Catalan police have not detected any movements that indicate that he could have obtained it later, ABC reports on this case.

The woman’s mother and sister suspect Carlos of all this: “He didn’t contact the family and he didn’t warn the Mossos either.”

The man has said that on July 21, 2022, he left his wife at the bus stop in a nearby town, Cornudella de Montsant.

María Jesús warns that Carlos says he stopped seeing her around 2 p.m. (2 p.m.) because he went to work. “It’s a lie, my sister didn’t have to go to work that day,” he responds from the media.

Apparently, Carlos indicated to a friend that he escorted Mónica to the stop at 07:00 and not at 14:00.
