FT: Generation Z chooses iPhone because of fear of SMS
Young people are more likely to prefer the iPhone, as they choose more modern ways of communication. This is reported by the Financial Times.
FT journalists interviewed experts and revealed the reason for the popularity of Apple smartphones among young people – the so-called generation Z, whose representatives were born after 1996. Young people in the US account for almost a third of iPhone sales, while only 10 percent of Americans under 30 choose the Samsung Galaxy.
One of the reasons for the dominance of the Apple ecosystem among young people, experts called modern ways of communication. According to Frontman spokesperson Anneliese Hillman, young consumers prefer to communicate in the iMessage messenger, which they consider an alternative to SMS, which are common on the Android platform. Generation Z and millennial researcher Anastasia Pelot said that young people are literally afraid of traditional SMS.
On iPhone, messages sent via iMessage appear in blue, SMS in green. “Deep down, young people think, ‘Oh my God, I need to explain to my friends why our group chat is now green,'” Pelot said.

For comparison, for every 100 Samsung Galaxy smartphones sold, there are only 11 tablets, 6 smartwatches and six pairs of wireless headphones.
