– I hope that this will result in a clever and fascinating intellectual adventure – this is how Olga Tokarczuk comments on the start of work on the game Ibru, which is inspired by her literature.

Olga Tokarczuk, a Nobel Prize winner, invested in a game producer. Sundog, a small studio that currently consists of 9 people, has very ambitious plans. In 2026, he wants to present the game Ibru, inspired by Olga Tokarczuk’s book entitled “Anna In in the Tombs of the World”.

The company has already raised a lot of capital to finance the Ibru prototype. “The game will be a detective RPG combining cyberpunk and Sumerian myths,” explain the creators of the title.

– Our assumption was to make the game based on the best – existing plot. Hence the contact with Olga Tokarczuk and the choice of her book – Anna In in the Tombs of the World. This is one of the oldest myths in the history of mankind in a modern version. A timeless, deeply human novel, in which the vision of the modern dying world is perfect for showing in the digital world – says Mateusz Błaszczyk, creative director and co-founder of Sundog, quoted by MamStartup.pl.

– The idea appealed not only to us, but also to investors. In a short time, we obtained from them almost PLN 1.5 million from a private issue of shares. These are people interested in the work of Olga Tokarczuk and closely related to digital culture. We are proud that Olga co-creates Sundog with us and supports us in conceptual work – she says.

Tokarczuk: I hope there will be a fascinating intellectual adventure

The interested party also referred to her investment. The writer is the chairwoman of the Supervisory Board of Sundog. “I don’t feel like I own the Inanna myth. On the contrary, myths belong to everyone and they keep coming back to us in various forms. The game can be a different way to enter the story, to experience it in a different way. I believe that this is a chance for my book – to exist in a different form and thus reach people who no longer read paper books – he states.

– I’m interested in everything that is being created and I try to help, mainly in narrative matters. I hope it will turn into a smart and fascinating intellectual adventure – he adds.

Among the games inspired by Polish literature, of course, “The Witcher” should be mentioned. It is possible that the world created by one of the most widely read Polish authors will also become an inspiration to create unique scenery and characters.
