Samsung today presented its new Galaxy S23 Ultra, the Galaxy S23+ and the Galaxy S23, ushering in a new era of the high-end of the Korean company. What the brand has highlighted the most about this new device is its camera that allows users to take photos in low light conditions, videos with cinematic quality and with more efficient artificial intelligence.
“The most impactful technology is measured not only by what it enables people today, but also by how it contributes to a brighter future,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “The Galaxy S23 Ultra and the entire Galaxy S Series range are the new standard bearers for a trusted premium smartphone experience. We are redefining ultimate performance by combining power and sustainable innovation in devices that have less impact on the environment.”
The new Galaxy uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processors with revolutionary AI, an improved mobile gaming experience and more advanced graphics processing.
In the Galaxy S23 Ultra model, the S Pen is included again, which offers more possibilities for productivity, note-taking, games, etc.
A camera with many novelties
Galaxy S23 Ultra includes a new 200 MP Adaptive Pixel sensor that captures moments with incredible precision. It uses pixel binning to simultaneously support multiple levels of high-resolution processing.
In addition, the Galaxy S23 series introduces fast autofocus and the first Super HDR selfie camera, which jumps from 30fps to 60fps, for higher quality front-facing images and videos.
An option that has evolved a lot in these high-end models is to manually operate the camera as if it were a pro. Now included is the Expert RAW app, available exclusively for Samsung Galaxy, which lets you capture and edit DSLR-style images in RAW and JPEG, without the need for any camera gear.
Users can experiment with multiple exposure photo art or capture a clear view of the Milky Way with Astrophoto settings, either within the Samsung Camera app or the Expert RAW app. In turn, the new zoom functions of the Camera Controller application of the Galaxy Watch5 series allow users to capture images from the wrist.
Other developments in the field of cameras are:
• In low light or situations that would normally create a blurry effect, videos are stable thanks to the double angles of the Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) in all directions.
• Videos are more cinematic with upscaled 8K video at 30 frames per second and wider angle.
• Advanced object-based AI analyzes every detail of the frame, even minute facial features such as hair and eyes, to accurately represent a person’s dynamic features.
• For an even better video experience, the new 360 Audio Recording feature in Galaxy Buds2 Pro creates multi-dimensional sound.
On the Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23, the Samsung Galaxy camera also gets a refreshed look. The contoured housing has been removed, marking a new era of essential Galaxy design that makes the entire series stand out.
High performance for mobile games
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy delivers superior performance over previous models, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s 5,000 mAh battery lasts more than 20% longer.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra’s graphics performance is over 40% faster and the AI performance is also optimized by over 40% to balance processing and power for photography, videography, low-latency gaming and more.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra is ready to support real-time ray tracing coming to mobile games. Users will be able to see much more real scenes thanks to technology that simulates and follows every beam of light.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra features a 6.8-inch Edge display with reduced curvature to create a larger, flatter surface for the best viewing experience. The enhanced comfort feature allows users to adjust color tones and contrast levels, reducing eye strain from nighttime screen viewing. Vision Boost now adjusts to four lighting levels instead of two to reduce glare and reflections in daylight.
security and privacy
All smartphones come with Samsung’s comprehensive Samsung Knox protection, which has received more government and industry certifications than any other mobile device, platform or solution on the market. The Samsung Galaxy Security & Privacy Dashboard lets you know who has access to your data and how it is used. Users can also control exactly which apps and programs can access their data and how they can use it.
For an added level of security, Knox Vault, first introduced on the Galaxy S21 series, protects critical information on the Galaxy S23 series by isolating it from the rest of the device, including the operating system, for further protection against vulnerabilities.
Availability
The Galaxy S23 series is available in four nature-inspired matte shades: Phantom Black, Cream, Green and Lavender.
