The head of YouTube is stepping down. She pointed to her successor

YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki has stepped down. She left Google (the company owns the service) after 25 years, because now she wants to devote time to her family and new projects. Neal Mohan will now sit in the chair of the president, whom Wojcicki praises in his farewell entry on the Internet.

“Today, after almost 25 years of working at , I am stepping back to start a new chapter. Every day I am inspired by creators from around the world who unite people on . It was an honor for me to take a front row seat for this amazing community,” she announced on Thursday. Susan Wojcicki, who was CEO of YouTube from 2014.

In her letter, she said she now plans to start a new chapter and focus on family, health and personal projects that are “her passion”.

Wojcicki worked in the company for almost 25 years – she was one of the first employees of Google. Prior to her top job at YouTube, she was Senior Vice President of Advertising Products. She was one of the few women to occupy such a high position in tech companies. This includes it made YouTube more accessible to .

“Thank you Susan for all your amazing work over the years that has made YouTube a home for so many creators,” Wojcicki said on Twitter.

The Polish-sounding name of the former head of YouTube is not accidental. Her grandfather was Franciszek Wójcicki, a Polish lawyer and peasant movement activist, member of parliament.

Neal Mohan is the new CEO of YouTube

The CEO of the tech giant will now be Neal Mohan, who is currently the director of products at YouTube. “He has a great sense of our product, our business, our creators and user communities, and our . Neal will be a great leader for YouTube,” Wojcicki praised him. “YouTube has the most exciting opportunities ahead and Neal is the right person to lead us on,” she added.
