Discarded fishing nets are collected from the Indian Ocean as part of the recycled components of the new Galaxy S3 series, which was launched by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. on February 1 in San Francisco, United States.
The multinational is committed to smartphone models, not only with technological advances but also attached to sustainability. And its line of Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23+ and the Galaxy S23, seek to generate a environmental impact from equipment to packaging.
Marcel Dellabarba, senior public relations manager for Samsung Latin Americasays that the idea is to reach zero carbon emissions by 2030.
“For us sustainability innovation is important every time. This is the smartphone with the most recycled parts that are used in the S23. As well as the efforts of the savings banks and not only do we have the product but also the commitment to have zero carbon emissions until 2030. And the renewable energy corporation in Latin America until 2025. These are important commitments that the company is assuming and thinking about as well. in the community,” says Dellabarba.

to that, Juliano Vingilis, Samsung Latin America product management director, adds that recycled paper is also used. “If we compare with what we had before of six (internal) components, now we think of 12 (external and internal) and not only in the product. The box is 100% recycled paper”, says Vingilis.
During the Samsung experience, in San Francisco, there is a sample space for the components that make it friendly to the environment.
For example, Recycled fishing nets, which are untangled, washed and frayed, become nylon pellets. These are then converted to high performance nylon material. Its inner cover is manufactured with 20% of these fishing nets and the (lower) module is produced with 5%.
PET bottles are also used for smartphones, which are washed and crushed. Likewise, PET chips are manufactured with a mixture of 80% recycled PET bottles and pure plastic raw materials. There is also a recycling in the glass.
“We are redefining ultimate performance by fusing power and lasting innovation into devices that have less environmental impact,” he says. TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23+ and Galaxy S23 are smartphones that offer sharper images and videos. Visual noise is corrected by a new AI (artificial intelligence)-based Image Signal Processing (ISP) algorithm that improves object details and color tone.
Plus, when there’s low light or in situations that would normally create a blurry effect, videos are steady because of the doubled angles of the Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) in all directions.
These videos, according to Samsung, they’re more cinematic because of upscaled 8K video at 30 frames per second with a wider angle.
The multinational points out that object-based artificial intelligence analyzes every detail of the frame, even the tiniest facial features such as hair and eyes to reflect the dynamic characteristics of a person.
Security
All smartphones come with Samsung’s Samsung Knox protection, which has government certifications.
“Samsung Galaxy’s Security & Privacy Dashboard lets you know who has access to your data and how it’s used. It’s easy to see if personal data is at risk and receive simple prompts to change settings. Users can also decide exactly which applications and programs have access to their data and how it can be used.
The price in the United States is $799 for the Galaxy S23; $999 for Galaxy S23+; and, $1,199 for Galaxy S23 Ultra and other countries varies. (YO)
