Radio physicist explained the connection between a Wi-Fi router and human health

Radiophysicist Kostin gave advice on installing a Wi-Fi router for less harm to health

Recently, there have been active discussions about the harmful effects of 4G (LTE) and 5G networks on the human body. Wi-Fi routers that provide access to a wireless network in apartments and offices support these standards. Mikhail Kostin, Head of the Department of Radio Wave Processes and Technologies, RTU MIREA, explained whether this gadget can be harmful to health. His words are quoted by the Prime agency.

According to him, various studies are currently being conducted on this topic, and their results are often quite contradictory. Thus, the World Health Organization (WHO) agreed with the conclusions of the International Committee on Protection against Non-Ionizing Radiation that it is practically impossible to harm a person with electromagnetic radiation in the range from 100 kHz to 300 GHz, including Wi-Fi routers. However, the specificity of the perception of electromagnetic radiation for each person is individual.

Therefore, when installing and using a Wi-Fi router, you must follow a few rules. You need to choose a device that matches the area: you should not install a multi-channel Mesh system in a room smaller than 50 square meters.

You should not place it in places of rest and long stay – kitchens, bedrooms. It is better to find a place for him in a non-residential area, and turn off the equipment at night.

The expert recommends using a leased line connection via twisted pair or fiber optics whenever possible. This will not only reduce the risk of exposure, but also improve the quality and safety of signal transmission.

Earlier, analysts listed the most popular gadgets for Muscovites in 2022. For the first time in four years of research, a Wi-Fi router took first place in this rating. Its presence in the house was noted by 87 percent of residents
