Netflix with ads is to appear in Poland, but not soon. We know when a cheaper package may come in

Netflix has recently seriously taken up the fight against account sharing users, which, of course, is expected to have a positive impact on the platform’s revenues. An alternative for people who do not want to pay the full amount for the package is to be an option to access the website with advertisements. This variant was introduced by Netflix in November 2022, but only in some markets, e.g. in the USA, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, Germany, Japan and South Korea.

The package gives access to a similar offer (compared to more expensive packages), but you have to accept the image resolution limited to 720p and short advertising spots that appear during the screening. The hardships are compensated by the price, which is twice as low as in the case of the standard package (approx. 5-6 euros).

Netflix with ads is to appear in Poland, but not soon

Initially, we expected a similar subscription option to appear in Poland, where many users complain about Netflix prices. However, that did not happen. As the Wirtualnemedia.pl portal has now learned, the platform is not preparing to introduce a new option in Poland. At least for now.

According to the information provided by the service, Netflix has no specific plans to launch the package on the Vistula River. Nor is it in talks with media agencies that would mediate in the sale of airtime on Netflix. The cheaper package should nevertheless appear in Poland, but only at the end of 2023.

Of course, Netflix is not revealing its plans. Officially, it only admits that it is gathering “knowledge and experience” from the introduction of the new service in selected markets. Only after some time, the platform is to consider expanding the service to other countries.

The new ad-supported package was well received in the US. As Wirtualnemedia.pl reminds, in the first days after its introduction, the average daily number of registrations on the platform increased by as much as 58 percent. The vast majority, as much as 75 percent, new users are people who use at least three other platforms of this type at the same time.
