MacRumors: Apple lowers iPhone trade-in buyouts

Apple has reduced the terms of its used smartphone buyback program for users. It is reported by MacRumors.

Media journalists noticed that after the announcement of new Mac models, the company adjusted the buyback amount of used smartphones. According to the authors, in the US and many countries, Apple offers to participate in the trade-in program, under which the company can buy back a consumer’s old device and give him a discount on the purchase of a new iPhone.

Experts noted that the corporation has ceased to buy used smartphones at favorable prices for users. So, if earlier Apple could offer up to $650 for a used iPhone 13 Pro Max, now the company is offering a maximum of $570. The buyback amount for the iPhone 13 Pro has dropped from $550 to $470, the iPhone 13 from $450 to $400, and the iPhone 13 mini from $380 to $350.

The purchase price of iPad tablets remained unchanged. The conditions have been adjusted for Mac computers and Apple Watches: in some cases, Apple increased the amount of the ransom, in some cases it reduced it.

In April 2022, Counterpoint agency experts found that the popularity of refurbished smartphones had increased by 15 percent in the global market. Most often, consumers purchased such devices from Apple and Samsung.
