BGR: Mac Pro was the last Apple device based on an Intel chip
Apple has almost completed the transfer of its computers to proprietary processors. This is reported by the publication BGR.
Media journalists noticed that after the release of the MacBook Pro and Mac mini on January 17, Apple has almost completed the process of abandoning Intel processors. So, after the announcement of devices from the company’s online store, Mac mini on an Intel chip disappeared, which was replaced by a model based on M2 and M2 Pro processors.
Experts called the last Apple computer available for sale equipped with an Intel chip – it turned out to be Mac Pro. The device is based on the Intel Xeon W processor. The base model, which has 32 gigabytes of RAM, a Radeon Pro W550X graphics card with eight gigabytes of memory and a 512 gigabyte SSD, is priced at $5,999.
According to journalists, the corporation may complete the transition to Apple Silicon before the middle of the year. Earlier, insiders reported that the company is working on an updated Mac Pro, which will be based on the M2 Ultra chip and have two slots for SSD drives.
At the end of September, Appleinsider journalists said that Intel intends to establish partnerships with Apple. The company believes that they must develop powerful enough processors to satisfy the customer.
