IPhone 13 screen proved impossible to repair

Replacing the screen in the new iPhone 13 smartphones turned out to be almost impossible in artisanal conditions. This is reported in a report by iFixit.

Experts studying the device of gadgets disassembled the iPhone 13 and tried to replace the screen of the device with another. It turned out that during the replacement process, it is necessary to remove the special microcontroller from the old component, which is responsible for the Face ID function, and transfer it to the new display. Otherwise, the option to unlock the smartphone by face will not be possible in the future.

The engineers noted that such a repair takes 10-15 minutes for Apple-certified service centers. SC employees use special proprietary equipment, thanks to which they can reconfigure the chip for Face ID. In artisanal conditions, replacing this component is extremely difficult.

The authors explained that technicians should use the micro-soldering method to transfer the microcontroller. This procedure is considered extremely difficult and can take several hours. The iFixit report says that in this way Apple effectively killed the business of third-party service centers that make money from replacing broken iPhone screens.

Earlier it became known that the cost of replacing the display in new Apple smartphones will cost at least $ 229. In Russia, the cost of repairing the iPhone 13 display has not been disclosed.
